Poisoning by vitamin is called hyper-vitaminosis. This is also known as vitamin overdose, which means that the body has a higher storage of vitamins than the permissible limit. This condition of the body can lead to symptoms that are toxic. If the vitamin E is taken in a high dosage the body can face problems like nausea, cramping of the intestines, diarrhea.
Weakness and fatigue, impairment of vision blurriness, severe headaches, bleeding and bruising that may seem unusual for the intake of vitamin E in high dosage can increase bleeding. The body can also face problems bleeding in the gastrointestinal area like black and tarry stools, stools with blood that is bright red in color and vomiting with blood flow.
The body may run the risk of hemorrhagic stroke that means the brain will bleed unusually. This may cause changes in speech or vision. The arm and the leg may become weak or numb and the headaches of severe nature. Sometimes when these vitamins are applies directly to the human skin, an irritation or a reaction of allergy can be faced by some people.
If these vitamins are taken in high dosage, they can create problems in the coagulation of blood by impairing the clotting of blood. When a person suffers from a cut, the blood flows for a certain period but finally stops to form a scab. Excessive amount of vitamin E in the body will make the blood too thin for the blood to clot and thus the bleeding will not be able to be stopped very easily causing a good amount of loss of blood.
The permissible level of vitamin E is that can be taken, as a supplement is 1000 mg in a day. An intake of these vitamins above the permissible level can be fatal for the human body. It has been studied that the presence of vitamin E in high quantity tends to upset the balance of the body’s antioxidants that leads to effects that are quite negative. In the United States, the death of human beings by the poisoning of vitamin is not a very common thing to find. The report of the statistics over the years do not show a very considerable figure of the deaths causes by the unintentional poisoning from vitamins.
If the supplements of minerals are taken in a high dosage, the body becomes prone to serious side effects of toxicity. These vitamin poisoning may occur if the vitamins that contain iron are taken excessively. The over dose of vitamin E occurs with those that are fat-soluble. These vitamins are stored inside the fatty tissues and the liver of the human body. They are built up to remain inside the body for a very long time and they stay much longer than those vitamins that are water-soluble.
Vitamin E has a lot of beneficial effects on the human body but they can cause more harm than benefit to the body if they are taken in a dosage that is unregulated and beyond the permissible limit, that is 1000 mg a day.
